Calendove

In development

Sell class seats and multi-week courses right in your Shopify store.

Calendove is a booking app made for pottery, sewing, candle, cooking and craft studios. In development, and shaped by studio owners.

Not available to install yet. I'm a solo developer, and I'm talking to studio owners first.

Early designs

These are design mockups, not a live product. You can click through them, but nothing is booked, saved or sent. The studio, classes and names are made up. Shopify draws the store and admin around the booking parts, so yours will look like your own theme.

Add a booking

For people who book by phone or in person. It takes seats from the same count as online sales.

Early designClass roster with check-in, inside your Shopify adminEveryone booked for a date, with the name for each seat and a link to their Shopify order. Tick people off as they arrive.

Admin and inbox frames are simplified drawings, not screenshots of Shopify or any email app.

Matches your store's look

The booking block takes its fonts and colours from your theme. Switch between three sample themes, then turn matching off to see a block that ignores the theme.

Block settings

In Shopify these show in the theme editor when you click the block.

Sample themes for illustrationOne booking block, three store themesThe themes are made-up examples. The block is the same code in each one. Only the theme around it changes.
  • It uses your theme's fonts and colours, so the block looks like the rest of your product page.
  • It never edits your theme code. In one review, an app edited a store's theme and the add-to-cart button disappeared.
  • You add it in Shopify's theme editor like any other block, and remove it the same way.

Built around what goes wrong today

I read thousands of public reviews of booking apps on Shopify. These four problems hurt class studios the most.

Overselling when seats are added by hand

One studio wrote: "Classes were over sold because I had to manually add people into classes." The app and the store disagreed on how many seats were left.

The plan: one seat count, checked at Shopify checkout, that includes bookings you add yourself.

Apps that edit your theme and break add-to-cart

One app edited a store's theme and the add-to-cart button disappeared from every product page.

The plan: you add the booking block in the theme editor. The app never edits your theme code.

Multi-week courses that need workarounds

Among the established apps, only two sell a multi-week course as one booking. Several popular apps can't do it at all.

The plan: one course booking takes a seat in every session.

Reminder emails that need HTML to edit

Several studios said they had to edit HTML or Liquid just to change a reminder email.

The plan: edit the wording in plain text boxes and see a preview.

What's planned for the first version

This list will change as I talk to more studio owners.

  • Sell class seats and multi-week courses in your own Shopify store.
  • One course booking takes a seat in every session.
  • Seat limits that stop overselling, checked at Shopify checkout.
  • A booking block that matches your theme and never edits theme code.
  • A name for each seat, so you know who is coming.
  • Confirmation and reminder emails you can edit without code.
  • A class roster with check-in.
  • A waitlist, planned for the Starter plan.
  • Fast support from the person who builds it.

Planned pricing

Draft prices. They may change before launch.

Customers pay at your normal Shopify checkout, so you keep your usual payment setup.

How it works

No code, and no changes to your theme files.

  1. Create a class and its dates

Set the price, the seats and the dates. For a course, add every week once.

  2. Add the booking block in your theme editor

Drag it onto your class product page. It picks up your theme's fonts and colours.

  3. Customers book and pay at your normal Shopify checkout

Orders, payments and payouts stay in Shopify. The app sends the class emails and fills your roster.

Help shape it

I'm talking to studio owners before I build. If you run classes, I'd love to hear what frustrates you about bookings.

No spam. I'll only email you about the beta.
